Merge PDF
Merge PDF files online for free. Combine up to 12 PDFs into one document, set the order with first-page previews and download it. No upload, no watermark.
About Merge PDF
Merge PDF joins several PDF files into a single document. Add up to 12 files, check the first-page preview on each card to confirm you picked the right one, move files up or down until the order is correct, and download one merged PDF with every page in sequence.
It suits anyone assembling a report from separate chapters, sending scanned receipts as one attachment or combining a contract with its appendices. Files are read and joined by your browser with pdf-lib, so nothing is uploaded, there is no account to create and no watermark is added to the result.
How to use Merge PDF
- Drop your PDF files onto the page or select Choose PDF; use Add PDFs to bring in more files later.
- Check each file card, which shows the first page, the file name and the page count.
- Use the up and down arrows to set the order, or the trash button to remove a file.
- Select Apply to combine the files, then select Download to save merged.pdf.
Features
- Combines up to 12 PDFs in one pass, with up to 50 MB and 500 pages per file, 100 MB in total and 1,000 pages in the merged document.
- Copies pages as they are instead of converting them to images, so text stays sharp, selectable and searchable.
- Keeps interactive form fields and prefixes their names per file (File1_, File2_ and so on) so identical field names do not clash.
- Opens password-protected PDFs when you enter their password; the merged file is saved without a password.
- Shows the total number of files and pages before you merge.
Common uses
- Combining a cover letter, resume and portfolio into one application PDF.
- Collecting monthly invoices or receipts into a single file for your accountant.
- Joining a contract with its signed appendices before archiving it.
- Assembling chapters or sections that were exported separately into a complete report.
Tips
- Merge keeps each file's own page order. To move individual pages afterward, open merged.pdf in Reorder PDF pages.
- If any source file was password-protected, run the merged result through Protect PDF before sharing it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I merge PDFs without Adobe Acrobat?
Yes. The files are merged directly in your web browser with the open-source pdf-lib library, so you do not need Acrobat, a desktop app or an account. It works in current desktop and mobile browsers.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
Up to 12 files per merge, as long as each is under 50 MB and 500 pages, all files together stay under 100 MB and the merged document has no more than 1,000 pages. For bigger jobs, merge in batches and then merge the results.
Will merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?
No. Pages are copied into the new document unchanged rather than rendered as images, so text remains selectable and searchable, and photos and graphics keep their original resolution.
Can I rearrange individual pages while merging?
Merge arranges whole files and keeps the page order inside each one. To move single pages, merge first and then open the result in Reorder PDF pages, or use Extract PDF pages to save pages in a custom sequence.
Are form fields and bookmarks kept?
Interactive form fields are copied with their pages, and each field name gets a prefix such as File1_ so fields from different files stay separate. Bookmarks from the source files are not carried over to the merged PDF.
