About Brightness and contrast

The brightness and contrast tool fixes images that are too dark, too bright or look flat. Two sliders run from 0% to 200%, with 100% meaning no change, and the result preview updates as you drag them so you can compare it with the original side by side.

It is a quick way to rescue underexposed snapshots, make scanned documents easier to read or match the look of a set of photos. The panel also includes blur and grayscale options. Apply the same settings to up to 20 images, all processed locally in your browser.

How to use Brightness and contrast

  1. Drop images onto the upload box, click Choose image, or paste from the clipboard.
  2. Drag the Brightness slider to lighten or darken the image.
  3. Drag the Contrast slider to increase or reduce the difference between light and dark areas.
  4. Optionally add blur or tick Grayscale, then click Download or Download ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

What do the percentage values mean?

100% leaves the image unchanged. Lower values darken it or reduce contrast, higher values brighten it or increase contrast, up to 200%. At 0% brightness the image is black, and at 0% contrast it becomes a flat gray.

How do I fix a dark photo?

Increase Brightness until the shadows show detail, then raise Contrast slightly so the image does not look washed out. Compare the Result preview with the Original as you go.

Is there an automatic enhance option?

No. Adjustments are made by hand with the sliders, so you stay in control of the result. The live preview makes it quick to try different values.

Can I apply the same adjustment to many photos?

Yes. Add up to 20 images and the slider settings apply to each of them. Click any image in the list to preview it, then use Download ZIP to save the whole set.
