About Favicon generator

The favicon generator turns one logo or image into all the icon files a modern website needs. It creates a multi-size favicon.ico, PNG favicons, an Apple touch icon, Android Chrome icons, a site.webmanifest file and ready-to-paste HTML tags, all bundled in a single ZIP.

It is built for web developers and site owners who want correct icons without a desktop design tool. Adjust the padding, fit and background, check the preview and download. The icons are generated in your browser, so your logo is not uploaded anywhere.

How to use Favicon generator

  1. Drop your logo or image onto the upload box, or click Choose image.
  2. Set the padding, choose Contain or Cover, and pick a background color or keep it transparent.
  3. Check the preview of the largest icon.
  4. Click Download ZIP for the full package, or download individual files from the list.

  • Replacing an outdated favicon.ico that only contains one size.
  • Preparing icons for a progressive web app manifest.

Tips

  • Start from a square image of at least 512 × 512 pixels for the sharpest large icons.
  • Simple shapes and bold letters stay readable at 16 pixels; fine detail and small text do not.

Frequently asked questions

Which favicon files do I actually need?

Most sites need favicon.ico for browser tabs, a 32 × 32 PNG, apple-touch-icon.png for iOS home screens and the 192 and 512 pixel icons referenced by the web manifest. The ZIP includes all of these, plus 16, 48 and 64 pixel PNGs.

How do I add the favicon to my website?

Upload the files from the ZIP to the root folder of your site, then copy the lines from head-tags.html into the <head> section of your pages. They link the ICO, the 32-pixel PNG, the Apple touch icon and the manifest.

Should I edit the site.webmanifest file?

Yes. It uses the placeholder name “Website” for name and short_name. Replace them with your site’s name so it appears correctly when visitors add the site to their home screen.

Can my favicon have a transparent background?

Yes. Keep Transparent ticked and all icons are saved with transparency. Note that iOS fills transparent areas of the Apple touch icon with its own color, so a solid background often looks better for that file.

What if my logo is not square?

Choose Contain to fit the whole logo inside a square with padding around it, or Cover to fill the square and trim the edges. Use the Padding setting to give the icon some breathing room.
