About Fill PDF forms
Fill PDF forms reads the interactive fields in a fillable PDF and lists them as a simple form: text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and list boxes. Enter your answers, apply them and download a completed PDF with the values saved in the original fields.
It is meant for applications, HR and school forms, registration sheets and other AcroForm PDFs when you do not have a desktop PDF editor. Fields stay editable after saving, so you or the next recipient can still change them. Answers in non-Latin scripts display correctly, and nothing is uploaded.
How to use Fill PDF forms
- Drop a fillable PDF onto the page or select Choose PDF.
- Find each field in the Form fields list, which uses the field names stored in the PDF.
- Type text, tick checkboxes and choose options from dropdowns, radio groups and lists.
- Select Apply, check the result preview and select Download.
Features
- Supports single-line and multi-line text fields, checkboxes, radio groups, dropdowns and multi-select lists.
- Respects read-only fields and the maximum length set by the form author.
- Keeps the form interactive: answers are stored in the fields, not flattened into the page.
- Creates visible appearances for accented, Cyrillic, Arabic and other Unicode answers while the field value stays editable.
- Prefills every field with any value already saved in the PDF.
- Detects XFA forms and reports them as unsupported instead of producing a broken file.
Common uses
- Completing a job, rental or membership application received as a PDF.
- Filling in a school or medical intake form before an appointment.
- Updating answers in a form you filled in earlier.
- Completing a form on a borrowed or work computer without installing a PDF reader.
Tips
- Field names come from the form's author and can be cryptic. If you are unsure which box a name belongs to, enter a value, select Apply and check the preview.
- Signature fields cannot be filled here. Fill the form first, then use Sign PDF to place a drawn signature on the signature line.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my PDF is fillable?
Open it here. If the Form fields list shows entries, the PDF has interactive AcroForm fields. If the tool reports that no interactive form fields were found, the form is flat, and you can type on top of it with Add text to PDF.
Why is my XFA form not supported?
XFA is an older Adobe form technology used by some government and corporate PDFs. Its fields are defined in a separate XML layer that most tools outside Adobe software cannot render. Open such forms in Adobe Acrobat Reader or ask the issuer for a standard PDF.
Will the form still be editable after I fill it?
Yes. The answers are written into the existing form fields rather than flattened into the page, so the PDF remains a working form. You or anyone you send it to can change the answers later.
Can I sign a PDF form with this tool?
Signature fields are listed but cannot be filled here. To add a visual signature, fill the form first, download it, then open the result in Sign PDF and place a drawn or uploaded signature on the signature line.
Why are some fields grayed out?
Those fields are marked read-only by the form's author, often because they are calculated or filled in by the organization that issued the form. The tool leaves them unchanged to respect the form's design.
