About PDF metadata editor

PDF metadata editor lets you change the document properties stored in a PDF: title, author, subject and keywords. The fields open prefilled with the current values, so you can correct a typo, replace an old author name or clear a field entirely before saving a new copy.

A clear title matters because many PDF viewers can show it instead of the file name, and search engines may use it for PDFs published on the web. Clearing the author field is also a simple privacy step before sharing. Editing happens entirely in your browser.

How to use PDF metadata editor

  1. Drop a PDF onto the page or select Choose PDF.
  2. Edit the Title, Author, Subject and Keywords fields; leave a field empty to clear it.
  3. Separate keywords with commas.
  4. Select Apply and download the updated PDF.

Features

  • Edits the four main document properties: title, author, subject and keywords.
  • Prefills the fields with the PDF's current values.
  • Sets the modification date to the moment you save.
  • Leaves pages, text, links and form fields unchanged.
  • Writes the same properties to up to 12 PDFs at once.

Common uses

  • Giving PDFs on your website descriptive titles instead of names like Document1.
  • Removing a personal name from the author field before sharing a file.
  • Applying consistent titles and keywords to a set of company documents.
  • Correcting properties on files that were exported with the wrong template.

Tips

  • Check the result in PDF metadata viewer to confirm the new values.
  • With several PDFs, the fields show the first file's values, and whatever you enter is written to every file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the creator, producer or creation date?

No. The editor changes the title, author, subject and keywords. Creator, producer and creation date are kept as they are, and the modification date is updated to the moment you save.

Does PDF metadata help with SEO?

Search engines index PDF files and may use the document title as the result title, so a clear, descriptive title can help. The text inside the PDF and the page that links to it usually matter more than the keywords property.

How do I remove the author name from a PDF?

Clear the Author field and select Apply. The saved copy has an empty author property. Names can also appear in XMP metadata, comments or the text itself, so review the document if privacy matters.

Will editing metadata change the content of my PDF?

No. Only the document properties are updated. Pages, fonts, images, links and form fields stay exactly as they were, and you download the result as a new copy.

Can I edit metadata for several PDFs at once?

Yes. Add up to 12 PDFs; the fields show the first file's current values, and what you enter is written to every file. Each result is saved separately and all of them download together as a ZIP.
