PDF metadata viewer
View PDF metadata online for free. See the title, author, subject, keywords, creator app, producer and dates of any PDF, and copy them as JSON. No upload.
About PDF metadata viewer
PDF metadata viewer reads the document properties stored inside a PDF and shows them as a table: title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation date and modification date. Empty properties are shown with a dash, so you can see at once what a file reveals.
Check what a file says about you before publishing it, find out which application produced a document, see when it was created, or audit titles before putting PDFs on a website. The values can be copied or downloaded as JSON, and the PDF is read in your browser without being uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
What is PDF metadata?
It is descriptive information stored inside the file, separate from the visible pages: the document title, author, subject, keywords, the software used to create it and the creation and modification dates. Many viewers show it under Document Properties.
What is the difference between creator and producer?
Creator is usually the application the document was written in, such as a word processor or design app. Producer is the software that converted or saved it as a PDF, such as a PDF library or print driver. Either one can be empty.
Can I trust the creation and modification dates?
They are whatever the creating software wrote, and anyone with a metadata editor can change them. Treat them as a useful hint about a document's history, not as proof of when it was actually made.
Does it show XMP metadata or other hidden data?
No. It reads the standard document information properties. Extended XMP metadata, embedded files, comments and other hidden data are not displayed, so a clean table does not guarantee the whole file is free of personal information.
Why are all the fields empty?
Many apps save PDFs without filling in document properties, and some tools strip them on export. An empty table simply means the file has no values stored in those properties.
