About Sign PDF

Sign PDF lets you draw a signature with a mouse, touchpad, finger or stylus, or choose an image of your signature, and place it on any page. Click or drag on the page preview to set the position, then adjust size, rotation and opacity until it sits neatly on the line.

It covers everyday paperwork such as permission slips, lease renewals, delivery notes and internal approvals. The signature is added as an image on the page: a visual signature, not a certificate-based digital signature. Everything runs in your browser, so your signature and document are never uploaded or stored.

How to use Sign PDF

  1. Drop a PDF onto the page or select Choose PDF.
  2. Pick an ink color, then draw your signature in the box, or select Choose image to use a scanned signature.
  3. Select the page thumbnail where the signature belongs, then click or drag on the preview to position it.
  4. Fine-tune Scale, Rotation and Opacity; use Clear signature to start the drawing over.
  5. Select Apply and download the signed PDF.

Features

  • Signature pad with smooth, rounded strokes that works with mouse, touch and pen input.
  • Any ink color, such as dark blue or black.
  • Transparent background, so the signature sits on the line without a white box around it.
  • Option to use an existing signature image instead of drawing one.
  • Places the signature on one page or repeats it on a range, such as initials on every page.
  • Warns you when the PDF already contains a digital signature that editing could invalidate.

Common uses

  • Signing a lease renewal or rental application.
  • Returning a school permission slip without printing it.
  • Signing a freelance contract or purchase order.
  • Initialing every page of an agreement.

Tips

  • Choose the ink color before you draw; strokes keep the color they were drawn with.
  • Draw large across the whole pad and scale the signature down on the page for a cleaner line.
  • If the document is also a fillable form, complete it in Fill PDF forms first and sign the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is a drawn signature legally valid?

In many countries, electronic signatures, including drawn ones, are accepted for many everyday agreements, but rules vary by country and document type. Some documents require a certified digital signature or ink on paper. If you are unsure, ask the party requesting your signature or a legal professional.

Is this a digital signature?

No. It adds a visual signature: an image of your handwriting on the page. It does not use a certificate, does not prove who signed and does not lock the document against later changes. For that, you need a certificate-based signing service.

What happens if my PDF is already digitally signed?

The tool shows a warning. Adding anything to a digitally signed PDF changes its content, which can make existing digital signatures show as invalid. Sign a copy only if that is acceptable, or ask the sender for an unsigned version.

Can I sign a PDF on my phone or tablet?

Yes. The signature pad responds to finger and stylus input, so you can draw directly on the screen, then tap or drag on the page preview to place the signature before applying it.

Can I add my initials to every page?

Yes. Draw your initials, position them on the preview, then enter all the page numbers in the Pages field, for example 1-12. The initials appear at the same relative spot on each of those pages.
