About Edit PDF

Edit PDF opens your document and turns every line of its text into something you can click and change. Fix a name, date, price or typo directly on the page.

The change is made inside the PDF's own text, so the font, color, position and graphics stay as they were. The whole job runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

It works on any PDF that contains real text, including files exported from design tools such as Canva. Every edit is written into the file itself, so the page you see is the page you save.

How to use Edit PDF

  1. Drop a PDF onto the page or select Choose PDF.
  2. Select the line you want to change and type the new text, then press Enter.
  3. Check the updated page and select Save PDF.

Features

  • Replaces text in place instead of covering it with a white box.
  • Keeps the original font, size, color and position of the line.
  • Leaves images, graphics and every other line untouched.
  • Warns you when a letter is missing from the PDF's font and the closest font is used instead.
  • Shows the page exactly as it will be saved after every change.
  • Handles PDFs up to 50 MB on your own device, with nothing uploaded.

Common uses

  • Correcting a typo in a finished document.
  • Updating a name, date or price on an invoice or letter.
  • Changing a heading or label without the source file.
  • Fixing a date or job title on a CV before sending it.

Tips

  • Keep new text about the same length as the old text, because each line stays where it started.
  • To add new text instead of changing what is there, use Add text to PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is the old text really removed?

Yes. The text instruction for that line is rewritten, so the old wording is gone from the page rather than hidden under a box.

Why did my line change font?

PDFs usually contain only the letters they use. If you type a letter the font does not include, that line uses the closest standard font and the tool tells you.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

No. A scan is a picture of a page and has no text to change. The tool tells you when a page has no editable text.

Does the text reflow if my new sentence is longer?

No. Each line is edited on its own and stays where it started, so a much longer line can run into whatever sits next to it.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The whole edit runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first, then open the file here.
