HTML to plain text
Remove HTML tags, scripts and styles to get plain text. Preserve basic block breaks, decode entities locally, and copy or download the readable result.
About HTML to plain text
HTML to plain text parses pasted markup into an inert template and extracts its textual content. It removes script, style and noscript elements, converts line-break tags and selected block boundaries into newlines, and tidies extra spacing.
Use it for copying readable material from a snippet, reviewing an email template’s text or preparing a rough text-only draft. It does not fetch a web page from a URL, run scripts, reproduce CSS layout or provide a complete HTML sanitization service.
How to use HTML to plain text
- Paste an HTML snippet or open a saved markup file.
- Read the extracted text in Output.
- Inspect headings, list items and line breaks to check that the result fits your use.
- Copy or download the plain text; edit any spacing or structure that needs adjustment.

Frequently asked questions
Can I enter a website address instead of markup?
No. Paste the HTML source or open a local text file. The tool does not request the page behind a URL.
Will links and images be preserved?
Link text can remain, but href destinations and image content are not exported as structured elements. An image’s alternative text is not automatically converted into a separate paragraph.
Is the output a safe HTML sanitizer?
The output is plain text. If you insert it into another application, keep treating it as text and use that application’s escaping rules rather than assuming it is safe HTML.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
The tool processes the text in this page, on your device. It does not send the input to a conversion service or save it to an account. Advertising and ordinary website requests are separate from this local text processing. Copy or download any result you want to keep before leaving the tool.
Is my input uploaded?
