Morse code to text
Decode written Morse code into uppercase text. Separate letters with spaces and words with slashes or three spaces, then inspect the local result.
About Morse code to text
Morse code to text decodes written dots and dashes into supported letters, digits and punctuation. It returns letters in uppercase because Morse notation does not carry a lowercase distinction.
Use one space between code groups, and a slash or at least three spaces between words. The decoder also accepts middle dots as dots and underscores as dashes. Unknown code groups appear as question marks so you can review them.
How to use Morse code to text
- Paste the written Morse code into Input.
- Keep Morse → Text selected.
- Check that letters are separated and word boundaries use slashes or three spaces.
- Read, copy or download the decoded text, correcting unknown groups if necessary.
Features
- Recognizes supported International-style Latin letter and digit mappings.
- Accepts dots, middle dots, hyphens and underscores as notation.
- Preserves physical line breaks and returns decoded letters in uppercase.
- Rejects unrelated input characters and marks unknown groups with a question mark.
Common uses
- Checking the answer to a written Morse exercise.
- Decoding a short code copied from a puzzle.
- Comparing supported text-to-Morse output with the original message.
Tips
- Keep letter boundaries visible. A continuous stream of dots and dashes without separators is ambiguous.
Frequently asked questions
Can it decode recorded Morse audio?
No. Paste written dot-and-dash notation. The tool has no microphone or audio recognition function.
Why is a question mark shown?
The group between separators is not in the supported mapping. Check for a missing dot, dash or separating space.
Why did several words join together?
Single spaces separate letters, not words. Use slashes or at least three consecutive spaces to mark word boundaries.
