Sentence case converter
Convert mixed capitals into simple sentence case. Review punctuation, proper names and abbreviations before copying or downloading the result.
About Sentence case converter
The sentence case converter lowercases the input and capitalizes the first letter at the start of text, after common sentence punctuation followed by whitespace, and at line starts.
Case conversion follows JavaScript’s Unicode casing rules rather than a language-specific editorial style guide. Proofread proper names, acronyms and words with language-dependent casing before publishing the result.
How to use Sentence case converter
- Paste or open your source text in Input.
- Keep Sentence case selected and inspect each sentence start.
- Compare Input with the automatically updated Output.
- Use Copy or Download to keep the result; Reset restores the tool’s starting mode.
Features
- Offers seven prose and identifier case modes in the same interface.
- Keeps the original input visible beside the converted output.
- Applies Unicode casing for upper, lower, title and sentence styles.
- Code-case modes normalize accents and retain ASCII letters and digits as identifier words.
Common uses
- Repairing an all-capital paragraph before proofreading.
- Standardizing sentence-style labels in a spreadsheet export.
- Preparing a draft with mixed capitalization for final editing.
Tips
- Check proper names and acronyms manually. For code-case output, non-Latin scripts may be removed instead of transliterated.
Frequently asked questions
What does the selected mode produce?
The starting mode is illustrated by “A simple sentence. Another follows.”. You can switch modes in the toolbar without re-entering the original text.
Does this follow AP, Chicago or another title style?
No. Title Case capitalizes word starts mechanically and does not maintain a style-guide list of small words, names or abbreviations. Sentence case also needs a final check of proper names.
Can case conversion change meaning or identifiers?
Yes. Converting a password, case-sensitive identifier or acronym can change its meaning or behavior. Use a copy and review the result before replacing an original value.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
The tool processes the text in this page, on your device. It does not send the input to a conversion service or save it to an account. Advertising and ordinary website requests are separate from this local text processing. Copy or download any result you want to keep before leaving the tool.
